Being in financial debt is negative - a ball and chain - but there is a positive debt in love. Christ paid it and you incur it every day when others love you. You never want to pay this debt off. All God’s laws flow from the love you receive and the love you give.
Romans 13:8 (TLB) Pay all your debts except the debt of love for others—never finish paying that! For if you love them, you will be obeying all of God’s laws, fulfilling all his requirements.

To enjoy this earthly life is of God. But there is much grief here too and, as the saying goes, “then you die.” God is true north. He has purpose for you and as you find it, you’ll prefer others have counties, buildings or freeways named after them.
Psalms 49:10-11 (MSG): Anyone can see that the brightest and best die, wiped out right along with fools and idiots. They leave all their prowess behind, move into their new home, The Coffin, The cemetery their permanent address. And to think they named counties after themselves!

Recall how a friend walked with you at your darkest time and how much you appreciated it. God used them, but they are still a human with their own personal priorities. This says you have God’s full attention all the time. You can be confident in this.
Isaiah 43:2 (NIV) When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the Fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

A firm foundation is not created in the spur of the moment. It requires time and preparation. This parable tells you that following the teachings of Jesus will create that foundation. You can face any difficulty or adversity when you are firmly in relationship with God.
Matthew 7:24-27 (TLB) 24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
