The Spirit of Truth

Jesus was on this earth temporarily but can be with you forever. He said God would send the Spirit of Truth for help and interpretation. Whoever has my commands and keeps them ..loves me. Look for and live in God’s truth and the Father and Son live in you.

John 14:15-21 (NIV) 15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

Moses and Aaron

God equips you day-to-day. Moses was very insecure about his communication abilities. God allowed for this by having his brother, Aaron, be his spokesman and colleague. You weren’t made to do everything by yourself; God sends others to complement your abilities.

Exodus 4:14-16 (TLB) 14...“All right,” he said, “your brother, Aaron, is a good speaker. And he is coming here to look for you and will be very happy when he finds you. 15 So I will tell you what to tell him, and I will help both of you to speak well, and I will tell you what to do. 16 He will be your spokesman to the people. And you will be as God to him, telling him what to say.

Circumcision and Baptism

In the Old Testament, circumcision was physical and spiritual. A portion of flesh was sacrificed to represent submission of the flesh to God. In the New Testament, your fleshly sin nature is buried in baptism and you arise to submit to relationship in Christ.

Colossians 2:11-14 (NLT) 11 When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.

....If I must die, I must die

Facing some decisions takes a determined faith in God. Esther, her maids and all the Jews of Susa fasted for 3 days before she “illegally” went before the King.  They gave up comfort and security for a short time to fully trust God and an entire nation was rewarded.

Esther 4:16 (NLT) 16 “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.”
